DOODLE ART OUTREACH
DAP is developing outreach programs to spread the joy of doodling and its therapeutic benefits across the globe. We believe doodles are more than just random markings on paper. We believe doodles can be art. Art therapy is real, just as listening to music, painting, & dancing are. So join us on our journey as we develop a variety of opportunities for all.
DOODLES ACROSS BORDERS
is an outreach endeavor that is being developed as we speak. We are carefully crafting details and fine-tuning the process.

Doodles Across Borders is a pen-pal type program of art involving elementary school and middle school students . These students will collaborate on pieces of art, primarily through doodling, while sharing their personal stories. Students are encouraged to share information on the area where they live, what they eat, activities they enjoy, holidays they celebrate--their culture!
Students from two different schools in two countries, whether the classes take place during or after school hours, will be taught about the art and history of doodling and its place in our lives. Think of it as an art-pal cultural exchange. |

The students will work individually, first beginning a doodle. This initial doodle will be shared with an art-pal who will add on to the doodle. The doodle as well as personal information from each individual will be mailed back and forth a few times until the project is complete.
The hope is students will develop a fondness for doodling and art in general and through the process of collaboration feel more comfortable with creating art. In addition, the students can share their personal journeys of art and lives and learn about the culture and history of another part of the world.

This piece of art was a collaboration between DAP founder Chris "Ceej" Allen & his Danish cousin, Mette Lykkeggard. Mette is a Danish art teacher & artist. When she's not teaching students, she paints on canvas and creates works with ceramic in her home studio. Mette encouraged Chris to doodle during his transplant recovery and was the impetus for DAP's Doodles Across Borders outreach program.

CITY LIGHT COMMUNITY MINISTRIES
is known simply as City Light and serves as an extension of First Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. City Light engages with neighbors to help with their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth. DAP began visiting during City Light's community meals to encourage doodling with those seeking nourishment. Outreach is an important facet of Doodle Art Project and DAP founder Chris believes in the healing power of art.
