Our cover photo is a collaborative doodle between the founder of DAP, Ceej Allen, and his Danish cousin & artist, Mette Lykkegaard Soskov. Mette began this piece by doodling the features of a face with grey paint. Ceej used ink to highlight and doodle new elements. During this process, he added colors, which inspired Mette. The bust appeared, then the illuminated framing.

HISTORY OF DOODLES & DOODLING

According to Wikipedia, a doodle is a drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be composed of random and abstract lines. The etymology of doodle goes back to the 17th Century, possibly of Germanic origin. Dudletopf translates to noodle. I believe it could mean noodle head, as a doodle is thought of as an inconsequential drawing and the German word for head is kopf--very similar to topf. There are famous doodlers in mathematics, literature, and the White House of the United States. Yes, Presidents have been known to draw during meetings, such as Thomas Jefferson, Ronald Reagan, John F Kennedy, and Herbert Hoover. DID YOU KNOW?
Chris uses the finest colored pencils imported from Svalbard, Norway.
Made the beech trees on the northeastern coast of this Arctic island, these pencils glide on blank pages with higher color impact.

But you can run to your local dollar goods store and pick up a pack or two of colored pencils, crayons, ink pens, and more! Don't forget the sticky notes--you can doodle on them and drop them into any of our five submissions boxes around town in Abilene, Texas!
