The cover photo for Doodle Across America is a collection of various types of doodles submitted to DAP by one artist/doodlist, Billie Daniels. She lives in Austin, Texas, and has known DAP Founder Chris Allen since high school.

​The idea for Doodles Across America came when Chris was recovering from his transplant. He thought, "Why not include others?" He began mailing the beginnings of doodles to friends in other locations. These friends added to the doodles, both images and color, then mailed it back to Chris. This is considered "one pass" and this process would continue for one or more passes between the two. What results is an original collaborative piece between two people across America.
